The Writer is Interviewed

It is Monday morning January 30th and I have been in hair and make-up for the last twenty minutes. I am nervous as well. However, hair and make-up (all done by me) and my jewelry and blue jean jacket give me confidence.

The other bit of confidence comes from Colleen Biggs of the LEAP for Ladies Networking Community. She is the founder and LEAP Community Leader. She is a Peak Performance Business Coach, Speaker and Author. I have been fortunate enough to know her for a few years. We met a few years ago when she was writing a chapter for a compilation book I was editing. She was a dream to work with and I enjoyed every minute. When I created my writing company last year she was on my list of entrepreneurs that I knew would provide invaluable insight.

Colleen’s goal and intentions for LEAP is VISIBILITY. She wants all of us to be seen and heard.
LEAP for Ladies is a community for visibility, support and networking. By joining, we can attend monthly programs, including an opportunity to teach other community members about what we do, a podcast, a live-cast interview on FB, LinkedIn and YouTube, a monthly networking meeting and even a book club.

Colleen is THE IT Girl of networking.

Colleen has been a supporter, listener, encourager and has used her coaching skills to ask me the challenging questions. In fact, in the last few weeks she was able to really hear my challenge and possible opportunities. She helped me SEE that what lights me up is a gift I can share through my writing and storytelling, “If we do what we love, opportunities arrive unexpectedly.” In fact, this is the message I heard a few years ago from a very wise person, “Do the work and everything else will fall into place.”

“Write, write, write and then let-go,” she advised.

She encouraged me to trust my gut (where have I heard that before?!), honor my priorities and to lean in-giving myself permission to do what I want to do and what I LOVE to do. She is also smart enough to know that we also need to make a living.

If I give myself permission to simply WRITE, I will find freedom.

This is my journey. By asking myself, “What can I experience and HOW do I want to live this journey?” I allow myself to design my life to write, read, research and interview others. It’s completely up to me.

For me, writing has always connected people to one another, themselves and yes, to me. Community is very important to me and building this community through writing makes me very happy. It’s part of why I write.

The interview went better than I could have imagined. It was such fun to talk with Colleen-she knows exactly how to make us shine! Great hair, make-up, and clothing certainly helped. In my heart, I know, it was Colleen’s energy and our combined interest and positive, fun energy and interaction that made this interview as enjoyable as it was.

Thank you, Colleen, for the visibility, the support and for showing me how to make the LEAP.

Expect Good. Sparkle On. Defy Gravity.
